What is Functional Medicine?

I love Dr.Terry Wahls' explanation of Functional Medicine as a 'quiet revolution' within the health system. It is a complementary and/or alternative method to the conventional standard of care.

Created from 3 foundational pillars:

  • Establishment of a therapeutic relationship between client and practitioner

  • Roots cause identification,

  • Systems Analysis using both a holistic assessment perspective, as well as integration of full body connections.

There is no blanket, one-sized-fits all protocols to your care. Every person and their situation is unique and plans will be designed individually.

Are your sessions covered by extended medical?

As a Registered Nurse of Alberta, sessions can be reimbursed if you have a health spending account. All invoices include my Nursing Registration number for the province of Alberta.

Unfortunately, extended medical insurance does not reimburse Registered Nurse services unless they are in-home visits that are related to such things as wound or foot care.

However, when submitting your additional medical expenses at the end of the year with your taxes - Registered Nurses are recognized Federally as Authorized Medical Practitioners towards medical tax credits.

A list of all professionals authorized by the federal government can be found HERE.
